One of the most beautiful and glowing Agaves around, this compact creature forms a rosette only 1-2' high by 2-3' wide. Glowing like a jewel both day and night, it's perfect for adorning any sunny, low-water garden or large container. Each leaf is framed by a showy ridge of shark's-tooth-esque spines that can vary in color from white to near-black mahogany.

Once a rosette is fully mature, it will produce a single flower spike encrusted with bee and hummer attracting yellow blooms. Allow the spent stalk to remain long enough to reseed for future generations. While the flowering plant will die, any offsets will remain. Grown from seed, so color may vary.

These hardy, sun-loving succulents can tolerate temperatures as low as 20° degrees Fahrenheit (-7° C). Although the plant prefers full sun, it can do well in light to partial shade.

To grow the agave from seed, scatter the seeds on the surface of the potting mix. Do not cover them, or cover them very lightly with fine sand. Cover the planting container with plastic wrap or seal it inside a plastic bag. Place the planting container in bright, indirect sunlight in a warm place.
